The General Council of the Student Assembly of Amirkabir University of Technology has published an open letter addressed to the Minister of Science, Hossein Simayi Sarraf, criticizing the continued security pressures, disciplinary actions, and repressive atmosphere at universities—particularly at Amirkabir.
The letter states that the Pezeshkian administration used the pain and suppression of students as a stepping stone; it made promises, posed as a supporter, spoke of the “right to education,” and presented itself as a savior. However, after nearly a year, not only have these promises remained unfulfilled, but surveillance cameras and patrols by monitoring forces have increased, and a more complex security environment has come to dominate the university.
The students emphasized that the promises of the National Unity Government, instead of alleviating pressure, have merely served as a propaganda tool to mask the true face of repression. They called, in a direct tone, for the immediate and unconditional cancellation of disciplinary rulings and an end to the current state of affairs.
A part of the letter reads: “Promises, if not fulfilled, are nothing but a beautification of repression. We will not be deceived anymore. We demand an end to this suffocating atmosphere.”
