Hasti Amiri, a student activist, was arrested today (April 26, 2025) after appearing at the Shahid Moqaddas Security Court for charges to be formally presented. Due to delays in the bail posting process, she was taken into custody and transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
This arrest took place after agents of the Ministry of Intelligence raided Amiri’s home on March 5, 2025, confiscated her personal belongings, and announced that a new legal case had been opened against her.
This student activist, who had previously been arrested and sentenced for protesting against death penalties and advocating for women’s rights, is now facing a bail amount set at 1.5 billion tomans. Due to the failure to post bail promptly, she was sent to prison.
