Breach of Summer Housing Promises, Student Protest Declaration, and Threat of Strike at University of Tehran

Editorial Board of Amirkabir NewsLetter

The Student Dormitory Council of the University of Tehran has issued a collective statement announcing that the official promise of starting summer housing on July 7, 2025 (17 Tir 1404), made by university authorities, has been broken without any explanation, and no clear announcement has been released so far regarding the matter.

According to the statement, both written and verbal follow-ups by council members to immediately clarify the status of summer housing, internships, practicums, and summer semester classes have been met with either indifference or contradictory responses.
The report adds that this uncertainty has caused students psychological stress, disrupted academic plans, and led to personal harm.

The Student Council of the University of Tehran has demanded an official and immediate announcement clearly stating the final status of summer housing, including the exact start date, no later than July 10 (19 Tir). It has also declared that if the current mismanagement continues, the council will stand alongside students in protests and potential strikes.

The statement concludes by emphasizing that full responsibility for any protest action lies with the decision-makers who continue to evade accountability.
