Just hours ago, students at Shiraz University staged a large demonstration for the second consecutive day in protest against ongoing power and water outages. According to local sources and reports, the gathering was met with a heavy security presence, restrictions on filming and photography, and a complete lockdown of the university’s entrances and exits.
In a message sent to Amirkabir Newsletter, a student participating in the protest wrote:
“Right now at Shiraz University there’s a protest against the power and water cuts. They are not allowing any filming or photography, all the university’s entry and exit gates are completely closed, the main entrance is filled with security guards, and outside there are plainclothes agents and security forces everywhere.”
