Food Poisoning Strikes Again at Isfahan University of Technology

Editorial Board of Amirkabir NewsLetter

According to the Student Council of Isfahan University of Technology, a group of students at this university suffered food poisoning after consuming meals in the university’s self-service cafeteria and were transferred to medical centers.

The university health center’s administration reports that five students were poisoned due to consuming substandard central cafeteria food; however, unofficial reports and on-site observations in the university clinic indicate that a large number of students experienced gastrointestinal symptoms and received anti-nausea medication.

This comes while Isfahan University of Technology holds the record for one of the country’s largest food-poisoning incidents. According to complaints submitted to the Student Council, the university’s executive board, during the critical exam period, not only disregards the well-being of resident students but has also sacrificed their health through mismanagement.

Notably, as with the widespread poisoning in Azar 1401 (December 2022), no official or clear explanation has been provided by the authorities regarding the cause of this new incident, raising concerns that, once again, this event will go unanswered.
