Former Birjand University Professor Released on Parole After Six Months in Prison

Dr. Mohammad Saadati, former professor of physiology and toxicology at Birjand University, has been released on parole after serving more than six months of his prison sentence.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025 (17 Bahman 1403), the professor had been arrested to serve his seven-month sentence and was transferred to Hamedan Prison. His initial sentence had been announced as seven months in prison.

Previously, Dr. Saadati had been dismissed from Birjand University following a case fabricated by the South Khorasan Intelligence Department, facing charges including “supporting the Woman, Life, Freedom movement” and “belief in Sunni Islam
