Hamedan Student Basij: A Machinery of Suppression and Promotion of Moharebeh Sentences Against Critics

Editorial Board of Amirkabir NewsLetter

Seventy-six offices of the Student Basij in Hamedan Province have issued a repressive statement fully supporting the Moharebeh (enmity against God) verdict declared by Nouri Hamedani against those who have criticized or protested the actions of Seyyed Ali Khamenei. This student organization, whose very nature is rooted in suppressing freedom of expression, praised the cleric and characterized insults and threats against critics of the Supreme Leader as signs of the failure of the enemies of Islam and the Islamic Republic.

The statement claims that insults directed at Khamenei are indicative of the desperation of Western civilization and warns that such threats will not go unanswered. Using aggressive and religious rhetoric, the Hamedan Student Basij declared its unwavering support for the Supreme Leadership (Velayat-e Faqih) and called on the clerics of Hamedan Province to stand firm against what they described as “attacks.”

This repressive and threatening letter emphasizes that the Basij and the people of Iran will not allow the enemies of Islam to achieve their goals, asserting that any criticism or insult toward Khamenei will be condemned and met with a severe response. This move once again highlights the role of the Basij as an arm of repression and a tool for exerting pressure against freedom of speech and protest.
