■ Full Confirmation of Disciplinary Sentences Against Protesting Allameh University Student
In its latest repressive move, the Central Disciplinary Council for Students under the Ministry of Science in the Pezeshkian administration has fully upheld the suspension ruling of #Alireza_Kazemi_Moghaddam, a master’s student in International Relations at Allameh Tabataba’i University. This comes despite earlier promises made at the start of the so-called National Unity Government that if protesting students filed official appeals, their disciplinary sentences would be revoked.
According to an official notice dated April 12, 2025, the Central Disciplinary Council reviewed the case on December 30, 2024, and reaffirmed all charges against the student—including “causing chaos and unrest on campus”—declaring the sentence of two semesters of suspension from studies and access to student welfare services as final and binding.
Reacting to the decision, Alireza Kazemi-Moghaddam wrote on the social media platform X:
> “At first, the Pezeshkian government told us: file your appeal, and the sentences will be overturned. Since our suspension periods were already over, we appealed to have the rulings revoked. But the response came yesterday, confirming every single charge and sentence exactly as they were. The sentences weren’t annulled—they were either not implemented or had already ended.”
The ruling specified that the sentence was originally set for implementation in the second semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. However, the council’s statement emphasized that the suspended nature of a portion of the sentence does not equate to its cancellation or non-enforcement. Should the student commit another offense, the previously suspended sentence will also be enforced.
This action not only betrays the Pezeshkian administration’s hollow rhetoric about the “right to education,” but also serves as yet another sign of the ongoing systematic repression of protesting students and efforts to politically purge them from academic spaces
