The Islamic Association of Students at Sharif University of Technology has issued a statement regarding the twelve-day war and the country’s situation in its aftermath, warning against the continuation of current policies and the disregard for public demands.

The statement reads: Despite the ceasefire, the shadow of threats and deep domestic crises still looms over the country. If urgent reforms are ignored, painful consequences await Iran.

The statement criticizes the expanding role of military institutions in economic, social, and political affairs, calling for these bodies to focus on their primary duty: defending the nation. In another part, the performance of security agencies in dealing with internal infiltration and sabotage is questioned, emphasizing that while pressure on civil and student activists has persisted, internal threats have been quietly taking shape.

Sharif’s Islamic Association also highlights the country’s massive economic crises and stresses the need for immediate and realistic decisions. It considers constructive engagement with the world a key solution to many of Iran’s challenges.

The statement further notes: Insistence on ideological policies and repressive measures such as morality patrols and restrictions on social freedoms have only fueled public anger and despair. Without securing public satisfaction, it will not be possible to confront foreign threats.

In conclusion, the statement asserts: History bears witness to the downfall of regimes that underestimated the importance of their citizens’ consent. If the current path continues, the responsibility for any harm to Iran and its people will rest with those in power.
