According to information received by Amirkabir Newsletter, Reza Mohammadian, a master’s student in Development Sociology at Shiraz University, was met with obstruction and ultimately subjected to a severe beating when he visited the university dormitory in recent days to follow up on his research and housing matters. The assault resulted in a fractured nose.
This incident comes after an earlier attack on Mohammadian during a Shiraz University Basij student council meeting on 22 Aban 1403 (13 November 2024). At that time, amid escalating student criticism of the prevailing conditions, Basij forces violently assaulted him. Witnesses report that his face was struck with fists and a chair, his glasses shattered against his eye, and his nose was seriously injured during the same session.
Following these events and the ensuing psychological distress caused by university pressures, Mohammadian spent some time at home. He obtained a note from the university psychologist permitting his return to the dormitory, but he continues to face resistance and violence from both the security (harasat) and Basij units.
