Summons and Renewed Case Against a Student

Ali Parvin, a pharmacy student at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, has once again become the target of security and disciplinary pressures. After being arrested for posting critical Instagram stories and facing a legal case on charges of “spreading falsehoods,” he has now been summoned to the disciplinary committee.

This summons, based on baseless accusations made by dormitory officials, is a clear attempt to restrict student activities and silence dissenting voices. The legal case filed against him is currently suspended for a period of six months to two years with bail, but it can be reopened if similar charges are brought again.

This student had previously been sentenced to a three-semester suspension and academic exile to Ardabil for his participation in the nationwide “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests. Although the implementation of this ruling has been temporarily halted, the recent summons could pave the way for its re-enforcement.
