Taking a University Course Now Conditional on “Specific Dress Code”

Isfahan University of Medical Sciences

In an official notice from the instructor of the “Gastrointestinal Anatomy” course at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, enrollment in the course for the upcoming semester has been made conditional not only on academic requirements but also on adherence to a specific dress code.

According to the letter, signed by course instructor Hossein Sadeqi, students must commit to wearing attire approved by the university. If they fail to comply, they will be forced to withdraw from the course—and if they don’t drop it, they will be barred from taking the final exam.

The policy further states that students who violate the dress code will first receive a written warning, and repeat offenses will be referred to disciplinary committees. Students will also be required to sign a written agreement accepting these conditions.

The imposition of such requirements—particularly regarding dress—has sparked reactions among students. However, no official response has yet been issued by the university’s Student Affairs Office.
