Dr. Hassan Bagherinia, a former professor at Hakim Sabzevari University, was released from prison just hours ago after nearly a month in detention.
Dr. Bagherinia had been arrested on June 18, 2025, following a raid by security forces on his home in Mashhad. According to published reports, security agents thoroughly searched his residence and confiscated all mobile phones and electronic devices belonging to him and his family members.
He had previously been sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison due to his peaceful activities. According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, six years of this sentence had been determined as the maximum applicable punishment. Of this term, five years were suspended, and he was also sentenced to two years of prohibition from teaching and international travel as supplementary punishment.
