20th anniversary of the hostage-taking of the president of the Iran University of Science and Technology by the terrorist group Basij Student

Iran University of Science and Technology

Twenty years ago, on this day (November 1, 2004), following a seminar attended by Mostafa Tajzadeh and Ebrahim Yazdi, the Student Basij Terrorist Group at Iran University of Science and Technology, along with sections of other aligned student organizations, abducted the then-president of the university.

After abducting Dr. Mohammad Taqi Salehi, this Terrorist Group took him to the Ministry of Science, where he was severely beaten, leading to his hospitalization at Khatam al-Anbia Hospital in Tehran. They declared, “We don’t want a president like him.” In response to this act, outraged students gathered in front of the Basij building on campus.

It should be noted that Dr. Mohammad Taqi Salehi was the only president in the history of Iran University of Science and Technology who was elected, not appointed by the ministry.
