Armita Paveer, a student of cellular and molecular biology at Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan, has been summoned to court on December 3, 2023, to face charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
Currently detained in Tabriz prison, this student has been on a hunger strike since November 6, 2023, in protest of her poor conditions in detention. According to reports, her health condition has worsened, and last week, prison authorities were forced to transfer her to a hospital.
We reiterate that the responsibility for safeguarding the life and health of Armita Paveer, as well as all prisoners, lies with the Iranian prison system, and they must be held accountable for the harm inflicted upon her in the public eye.
